ART OF THE LOOM CARE GUIDE
To extend the life of our beautiful natural fabrics it is essential to follow our care guide. Please note, all fabrics wear with use and will therefore develop new characteristics, this is normal.
We try very hard to show accurately the colour of our fabrics on our website but some colours can be difficult to replicate. If you are unsure, please request a fabric sample. Colour variations are unavoidable between batches. We cannot guarantee that current batches will match previous orders or original samples. Where colour is critical, please request a batch cutting.
All fabrics will eventually fade. To reduce fading, we recommend curtains should always be lined with a good quality lining. Where sunlight is particularly strong, a blackout lining should be considered. Leading edges are often exposed to more light and may fade prematurely. We advise that the curtains are taken down annually and the side they are hung from swapped. This will ensure even exposure to light. Upholstery fabric should be kept out of direct sunlight.
Professional cleaning is recommended every 12 months for your home furnishings. Keep curtains and furnishing fabrics dust free by regular, gentle vacuuming with the appropriate attachment. This may reduce the need for washing and dry-cleaning. It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure the correct cleaning method is used. Careful and regular maintenance is required to prolong the life and appearance of soft furnishings. Spot cleaning should be avoided. Do not rub as this may remove some colour. We do not recommend the use of cleaning products that contain bleaching or brightening agents. Loose covers should be washed at 30°C max on a short cycle. Do not tumble dry, line dry. Do not clean removable cushions or arm caps separately as this is likely to result in a noticeable shade difference.
Characteristics of Natural Fabrics
Natural fabrics, particularly linens, can have occasional ‘slubs’ in the weave. These are part of the character of the fabric and are not faults. These markings are most noticeable when fabric is held up to the light, if the fabrics end purpose is for curtains or blinds, we recommend the use of a good quality inter-liner to minimise the appearance. Most importantly, simply embrace the uneven nature and unique qualities of natural fibre fabrics, as this is probably why you chose them in the first place.
ART OF THE LOOM
It is now many moons ago that my great, great, great, great, grandfather Benjamin Thornber made that leap from farmer weaver to out and out textile man. That monumental decision to uproot his family from his farm to the town of Burnley to pursue his dream has instilled a pioneering spirit in all of us at Art of the Loom to constantly strive to make our company more customer focused and easy to identify with.
Not so many years ago Art of the Loom was reborn out of a need to dedicate a brand to pure, natural fibre fabrics and this ethical voyage of discovery has enabled us to really make a difference to the UK textile manufacturing and finishing industry. We really are doing all we can to enable you to ‘Buy British’.
We are very proud of this and we hope by using only; wool, linen, cotton and viscose in our ranges you too can appreciate the luxurious feel and genuine textures of mother nature’s fibres carefully woven into both traditional and contemporary fabrics.
So whether you are looking for a pretty little ticking stripe, a classic linen union floral print or a robust woolen plaid we hope we can meet our obligation to be the best we can be.
Our in house design team travel extensively, seeking inspiration in both colour and design to create fabric collections that are on trend, whilst still effortlessly easy to incorporate into your scheme.

Please note that we are unable to guarantee the accuracy of the representation of colour, weight and texture in our photographs due to the limitations of photography and the varying nature of computer/smartphone/tablet displays.

Please be aware that some companies do charge a restocking fee for returning items (often 20% of purchase price which will be deducted from any refund amount), and some designers do have minimum quantities for return. Please contact us for further information. Please note that when processing refunds for returned items we are unable to refund original postage paid (as this goes directly to the couriers and not to ourselves) and the responsibility for the cost of return postage is with the buyer and not Eden Fabrics.
